Lady McManus

Lady Elizabeth Gwynith McManus was born into a traditionally wealthy family of landowners whose fortunes dwindled as Trade Unions brought much needed changes to a system that allowed whole-scale abuse related to serfdom and the point of slavery.

As a girl, the world was hers for the asking until her love of horses presented a stable boy she fell in love with. The resulting pregnancy remained a closely guarded secret which saw her cast aside and disastrously married off to the errant son of a highly respected industrialist; both the child and the stable boy evaporated from view.
She married Sir Robert McManus under duress. The marriage was never consummated due to his close emotional attachment to a man called Clive Cooper, whose excesses guided the underbelly of corruption.
